Drake may have the 2016 Song of the Summer, and the ability to make a half-court shot lying on his back, but when it comes to what really matters he hasn’t forgotten his family.

The Canadian rapper showed up to cheer on his goddaughter, Ashley Murray, and the Long Beach State volleyball team on Thursday night (September 8). Murray plays for the team, and had one of her best nights ever. No doubt because her superstar godfather was watching from the sidelines.
The university’s newspaper picked up on the story, as did most of campus, who reportedly flooded the gym upon news that Drake was there (via Gazettes.com).
Murray posted a picture of Drake in the locker room following their winning game, writing, “There’s nothing more powerful than when someone shares their blessings. When they show up for you, you show out for them. Thank you for coming to support me and my team. Love you always. Best Godfather ever. #sixGodfather #GoBeach #family.” He also posed for individual photos with Murray’s teammates and their younger siblings. “When someone shows up for you, you want to show out for them,” she said.
