Popular YouTube mashup master Dr. Brixx has released his latest surprisingly odd pairing with a new hybrid song titled “Hotline Blink”—Blink 182‘s somber lyrics of their 2000 hit “Adam’s Song” placed over Drake‘s mid-tempo smash “Hotline Bling.”
At first listen, the song is arguably cringe-worthy but for some reason it’s not easy to hit the pause button. Rather, listening through to the 2:30 minute mark pays off when Blink’s harmonies and piano part come in.

As one YouTube commentator pointed out, the mashup was first publicized by Alternative Press, to which Dr. Brixx replied, “And everyone’s been after my head since then.”
As with any mashup of two radically dissimilar artists, backlash is inevitable.
Back in August, Dr. Brixx released a mashup titled “What the Hell Do You Mean?” which pitted Justin Bieber’s What Do You Mean against Pierce the Veil’s “Hell Above.” Controversy ensued.
